Quality Play Opportunities for all children whatever their needs

(Formerly known as Aylesbury Vale Play Association)

The Aims of Bucks Play Association are to support the provision of facilities for recreation and other leisure-time occupations for children resident in the County of Buckinghamshire and in other such areas that are in need of support or provision.

For children who may have need by reason of their youth or social and economic circumstances: and which will improve the conditions of life of such children by promoting their physical, educational, mental and spiritual well-being.

To support the provision of Toy Libraries, the provision of inclusive Youth Clubs such as “PHAB Clubs” and the provision of inclusive Play Schemes such as “Lets Play Together” and other similar schemes and activities

As part of the projects undertaken, Bucks Play Association aims to:

• Encourage voluntary and community groups to set up holiday play projects/schemes and out of school clubs and activities. Priority for affiliation to AVPA and the benefits of membership is given to non-commercial projects and schemes.
• Promotes the provision of quality play and leisure activities by promoting good practice in play work to all relevant organisations and individuals. It will promote the principles, values and benefits of quality, inclusive play opportunities for all children to members, organisations and the wider public.
• Emphasis is on play for children providing opportunities for all children to access affordable, freely chosen, stimulating, safe and varied play and leisure opportunities.
•BPA believes that no child should be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color, religion or ability. To redress an imbalance AVPA may target certain minority groups of children and those with special needs.
• BPA aims to target areas of need according to population, current facilities for play and identified social and economic need.
• BPA seeks, as far as possible, to encourage parental and community involvement, fostering voluntary participation and support for children’s play.
